PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative assessment on the satisfaction level for the two interfaces of surgical guide system (SimPlant and R2GATE), the design and convenience of manufactured surgical guides and the importance of using the surgical guides thereof by means of survey. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Hereupon, they simulated the implant surgical process by mounting the two manufactured systems of surgical guide on a dental mold, respectively. The study subjects were instructed to complete the questionnaire as to the satisfaction level upon completion of the simulated surgery. This study summarized the data of each question after collecting the completed questionnaires. Then, this study analyzed the summarized data by utilizing statistical program SPSS 20.0 (IBM). RESULTS: R2GATE had a higher value of the satisfaction level on the design and convenience of manufactures surgical guides. R2GATE group (7.33 +/- 1.26) was found to have a higher value in terms of the overall satisfaction level compared to SimPlant group (6.67 +/- 1.26) (alpha = 0.05). CONCLUSION: The user satisfaction level on the surgical guide manufactured for R2GATE system was to such an extent as it can be widely used in clinical environment. Moreover, the surgical guide manufactured as R2GATE system can guide both the length and direction of a drill simultaneously. As a result, it is highly recommended for those beginners who do not have a lot of experience in implant placement.

6.A Mycoparasitic Ascomycete Syspastospora parasitica on the Entomopathogenic Fungus Paecilomyces tenuipes Growing in Bombyx mori
Mycobiology 2000;28(3):130-132
While studying Bombyx mori "Zipnuae" inoculated with an entomopathogenic fungus, Paecilomyces tenuipes, a mycoparasitic hymenoascomycete with a long neck was isolated from the silkworm rearing room. The fungus was identified as Syspastospora parasitica which has been recognized as a hyperparasite on various moniliaceous hyphomycetes. A descriptive illustration is presented in this study.

BACKGROUND: We compared the BACTEC Peds Plus (Becton Dickinson, USA) and BacT/Alert PF (bioMerieux, France) pediatric blood culture bottles in the context of recovery and time to detection (TTD) of bacteria and fungi from pediatric patients. METHODS: Blood samples were collected for culture from pediatric patients who were hospitalized during 2010 at a university hospital. BACTEC Peds Plus and BacT/Alert PF bottles were placed in the BACTEC FX and BacT/Alert 3D blood culture system, respectively, and tested for 5 days. Bottles flagged by instruments as positive were removed from the instruments and the TTDs were recorded. RESULTS: A total of 5,018 sets (1 set, 1 BACTEC Peds Plus and 1 BacT/Alert PF) were evaluated. Overall, the recovery proportions for BACTEC Peds Plus and BacT/Alert PF bottles were 57% (134/195) and 69% (112/195), respectively. There was a significant difference between the 0.38% contamination rate in BacT/Alert PF bottles and the 0.16% contamination rate in BACTEC Peds Plus bottles (P=0.035). The average TTD for all microorganisms was significantly decreased for the BACTEC Peds Plus bottles (P=0.021), but was increased for Candida parapsilosis compared to the results for the BacT/Alert PF bottles (P=0.028). CONCLUSION: We conclude that the rate of detection and contamination is higher when BacT/Alert PF bottles are used than when BACTEC Peds Plus bottles are used for pediatric blood culture. The BACTEC Peds Plus bottles detect nearly all enrolled microorganisms significantly faster than do the BacT/Alert PF bottles.

9.ADHESIVE PROPERTY OF POLYSULFIDE IMPRESSION MATERIAL ON THE TRAY RESIN AND BORDER MOLDING MATERIALS.
The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2000;38(5):650-658
This study was investigated to compare the bond strength of polysulfide adhesive between tray resin and border molding materials and to evaluate the effect of saliva contamination on them. We made the 135 resin tray secimens with a dimension of 1 X 1 X 1cm and divided them into 3 groups by the materials 1) Quicky group, 2) Compound group, and 3) Impregum group Each group was subdivided by saliva contimination. Group S I: applied adhesive without saliva contamination Group S2: applied adhesive after drying 15seconds after saliva contamination Group S3: applied adhesive no after saliva contamination. Tensile tests were performed with a Universal Load testing machine. Results showed Impregum group significantly higher bond strength than Quicky group, but there was no significant difference in adhesive bond strength between Compound group and Quicky group in experimental group by materials In experimental group by saliva contamination, S1 group is signifiantly higher bond strength than S2 group and S2 group is signifiantly higher bond strength than S3 group in Quicky group and S1, S2 group is signifiantly higher bond strength than S3 group in Compoud group and ImpregLun group. Impression compound and Impregum F which are usually used as an individual tray border molding material can be said to be satisfied in adhesive bond strength to polysulfide impression materials. After try-in and clinical adjustment are performed, a custom tray should be properly rinsed and air dried before tray adhesive was placed.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to compare the surface microhardness of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) samples having different thicknesses and exposed to human blood from one side and with or without a moist cotton pellet on the other side. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ninety cylindrical molds with three heights of 2, 4, and 6 mm were fabricated. In group 1 (dry condition), molds with heights of 2, 4, and 6 mm (10 molds of each) were filled with ProRoot MTA (Dentsply Tulsa Dental), and the upper surface of the material was not exposed to any additional moisture. In groups 2 and 3, a distilled water- or phosphate-buffered saline (PBS)-moistened cotton pellet was placed on the upper side of MTA, respectively. The lower side of the molds in all the groups was in contact with human blood-wetted foams. After 4 day, the Vickers microhardness of the upper surface of MTA was measured. RESULTS: In the dry condition, the 4 and 6 mm-thick MTA samples showed significantly lower microhardness than the 2 mm-thick samples (p = 0.003 and p = 0.001, respectively). However, when a distilled water- or PBS-moistened cotton pellet was placed over the MTA, no significant difference was found between the surface microhardness of samples having the abovementioned three thicknesses of the material (p = 0.210 and p = 0.112, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: It could be concluded that a moist cotton pellet must be placed over the 4 to 6 mm-thick MTA for better hydration of the material. However, this might not be necessary when 2 mm-thick MTA is used.
