Bromidrosis is a disorder characterized by rancid body odor which influences a patient's social life and mental health. The therapeutic modalities and the mechanism of bromidrosis have been carefully studied, however, there have been few reports about the genetic inheritance of bromidrosis. We investigated the family history of 42 patients who were operated on for bromidrosis and followed up to the third generation in 10 cases. The results were as follows: Results of investigation which were followed up the second generation. The fathers of five patients and the mothers of 11 patients had bromidrosis in 18 male patients. The fathers of six patients and the mothers of 12 patients had bromidrosis in 24 female patients. Thirty-four patient (81.0%) among a total of 42 have a single parent with bromidrosis. Result of investigation which were followed up to the third generation Bromidrosis was occurred in 17 of 42 patients (40.5%) in the second generation, and 18 of 27 patients (66.7%) in the third generation. In one case, a father transmitted bromidrosis to his three sons, and as a result, X-linked inheritance could be ruled out Bromidrosis was not skipped in every generation of all families. We on conclude that bromidrosis is an autosomal dominant inherited disorder.

We treated a case of extramammary Paget's disease that affected the scalp of a 45-year-old female. It is extremely rare that the disease arises in areas other than the anogenital region and the axillae. The lesion was a round erythematous oozing crusted hairless patch. Histopathologically, many pagetoid cells were found within the epidermis and dermis. The cytoplasms of these cells stained with alcian blue at pH 2.5, CEA, EMA and low-molecular-weight-cytokeratin. The patient underwent a wide local excision. We used a mapping technique to reveal the distribution of microscopically involved lesions.

Genomics & Informatics 2005;3(1):30-34
Microarray technology makes it possible to measure the expressions of tens of thousands of genes simultaneously under various experimental conditions. Identifying differentially expressed genes in each single experimental condition is one of the most common first steps in microarray gene expression data analysis. Reasonable choices of thresholds for determining differentially expressed genes are used for the next-step-analysis with suitable statistical significances. We present a supervised model for identifying DEGs using pathway information based on the global connectivity structure. Pathway information can be regarded as a collection of biological knowledge, thus we are trying to determine the optimal threshold so that the consequential connectivity structure can be the most compatible with the existing pathway information. The significant feature of our model is that it uses established knowledge as a reference to determine the direction of analyzing microarray dataset. In the most of previous work, only intrinsic information in the miroarray is used for the identifying DEGs. We hope that our proposed method could contribute to construct biologically meaningful structure from microarray datasets.

Megacystis Microcolon Intestinal Hypoperistalsis(MMIH) Syndrome is a rare cause of functional neonatal bowel obstruction, characterized by hypoperistalsis, narrow distal ileum and colon, and bladder distension. We report a case of MMIH syndrome and review the literature. The patient was born after 34 weeks of gestation with marked abdominal distension. Her birth weight was 2,830g with 276ml of urine drained by catheter. Prenatal ultrasonic findings were bladder distension, hydronephrosis and possible intraabdominal mass. Supine view of abdomen on third day of life showed dilated loops of proximal small bowel and stomach without colonic gas shadow. Preoperative diagnosis was intestinal obstruction. When the abdomen was opened, the distal ileum was filled with meconium and postoperative diagnosis was meconium plug syndrome. Ganglion cells were present in the ileal biopsy. All postoperative attempts to feed her resulted in bilous vomiting. Voiding cystourethrography done on the 4th day after colon study showed markedly distended bladder, contrast enhanced microcolon and hypoperistalsis. She was dischaged against medical advice by her parents at the age of 23 days and died at home at the age of 33 days.

Genomics & Informatics 2005;3(3):63-67
Adaptive responses to diverse microbial pathogens might be limited in relatively few types. Host cell responses to pathogens are believed to be patterned or stereotyped along with species or class. We tried to compose the host response to Mycoplasma in terms of cellular gene expression. Although gene expression profile of two host HeLa and 293 cells were quite different each other, 30 genes were differentially expressed by mycoplasma infection in both of HeLa and 293 cells. Six of them (PR48, MADH4, MKPX, CRK, RBM7, NEK3) were related to cell cycle or proliferation. Another category of genes like IL1HY1, KLRF1, TNFSF14, GBP1 were host defense to elicit immune responses. With this set of genes, we establish the prediction model for mycoplasma contamination.

10.A study on the difference analysis between an ideal and a clinical shape in case of manufacturing a metal-ceramic pontic substructure
Journal of Dental Rehabilitation and Applied Science 2016;32(1):8-15
PURPOSE: The purpose of this research is to determine whether pontic metal substructures, which are currently used in clinical surgeries, are designed appropriately and identify the problems that can occur due to their shape, size, and position. Then it aimed to emphasize the importance of making and designing pontic metal substructures based on basic principles. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research measured pontic basal surface (P1) used sample metal substructures in this study, gingiva margin (P2), and the porcelain thickness of maximum infrabulge of labial surface around 1/3 of cervix dentis (P3). One-way ANOVA analysis was carried out to test the differences among groups, Tukey Honestly Significant Difference Test was conducted for statistical analysis among groups.
